As a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and Nationally Certified Counselor, my practice served individuals, couples, and groups for over 20 years. I provide counseling services that encourage and support you to take charge of your life. My philosophy of therapy is eclectic that includes a toolbox consisting of a broad range of theories, skills, and techniques. From my perspective, each client is unique and unfolding each in their own way. If offer an environment conducive to exploring ideas, skills, and strategies to assist in self-awareness, behavioral modification, and decision-making.
As a university counselor/faculty/administrator at the University System of Maryland for over 25 years, I teach Psychology and Learning topics at the Undergraduate and Graduate level for UM and other colleges in the classroom and online. Published books and research discuss adult and experiential learners. Consulting includes corporations, associations, higher education institutions, both nationally and internationally. I earned my Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences and Counseling, and my Graduate degree in Community Counseling and Personnel Services from the UM.

My specialty areas include: overcoming anxiety, depression, eat disorders, relationship issues, couples therapy, and career planning and change. My techniques include a variety of strategies including guided imagery, modes of relaxation, problem-solving strategies, skill practice, and exploration and alternative ways of thinking about concerns.
Currently I am a member of the American Counseling Association, Maryland Association for Counseling & Development, National Board of Certified Counselors, Maryland Association for Mental Health Counselors & the American Mental Health Counselors Association.
